Kate Moss, Dominic West, and Drew Barrymore were some of the well-known people who came to the first big event to support the newly named King’s Trust.
The red carpet event happened on Thursday night at Casa Cipriani in New York and was hosted by the charity’s ambassadors Lionel Richie, the singer, and Edward Enninful, the former editor of British Vogue.
During the event, a message from the King Charles was read out by Ariana, a beneficiary of the trust from Canada, expressing his pride and joy in celebrating the first-ever King’s Trust event.
The letter stated, "Ladies and Gentlemen, it gives me enormous pride and pleasure to be able to celebrate this evening, the first ever King’s Trust event."
King further added, "When I started the Trust in 1976, I could never have imagined the reach that the organisation would have in the UK and in more than 20 countries around the world, or the more than a million brilliant young people we have been able to support."
The charity, previously known as the Prince’s Trust, was one of several started by the King when he was Prince of Wales.
Last November, it was renamed to match his new title as King.
However, the fancy gala was the charity’s first event with its new name, after last year’s Coronation.
Other famous guests included Chrissy Teigen, Sam Smith, Kate Beckinsale, Katherine Jenkins, and Charlotte Tilbury.
Grammy Award winner John Legend sang songs like All of Me and Ordinary People.
There was also an auction and speeches by young people who have been helped by the charity.
Meanwhile, the King’s Trust now operates in 25 countries, including the US, and has helped 1.2 million young people move into education, employment or enterprise.
Among those helped by the trust was actor Idris Elba, who was given a £1,500 grant to help him to train at the National Youth Music Theatre when he was 18.
