Ben Affleck played a pivotal role in supporting his wife, Jennifer Lopez, as she prepared for her role in the upcoming film Atlas.
As per the film’s Netflix description, The Mother star played the role of “data analyst Atlas Shepherd, whose deep distrust of artificial intelligence is tested after going on a mission to capture a renegade robot."
Sterling K. Brown, Lopez co-star clarified the reason Affleck would recite the dialogues of Smith, her AI partner voiced by Gregory James Cohan, in order to assist Lopez in perfecting her character.
Brown said, “Every once in a while, Ben would read the lines for Smith. And I think the newlyweds, still very much in love, I think she just wanted to hear his voice.”
He added, “And so sometimes, the reactions that you got from her were because she was listening to her husband's voice."
Tudum shared a character summary indicating that Smith exists solely as a voice within Atlas' suit.
"As the film proceeds, the initially combative duo learn to work with each other, in spite of Atlas’ many reservations," the summary stated.
To note, Jennifer Lopez and Simu Liu's film Atlas is now available to watch on Netflix.
