Lionel Messi reacts to Inter Miami's tribute to his 45 trophies

The Argentina star footballer, Lionel Messi, expressed gratitude to his club, Inter Miami, for celebrating his milestone of 45 titles in the most heartfelt and thoughtful way.

According to Goal, the soccer club honored Messi on Saturday, July 20, right before kicking off action against the Chicago Fire at Chase Stadium in the pre-match event. IMCF president Jorge Mas presented the soccer star with a commemorative picture showcasing all his wins with his previous clubs and with his national team.

When Messi entered the stadium, the packed crowd chanted, ‘Messi, Messi.’ 45 kids from the Inter Miami Academy were holding pictures of the trophies that the eight-time Ballon d'Or winner won throughout his career. The celebration was followed by mesmerizing fireworks.

Mas said, “Tonight we celebrate something we have never seen before and possibly will never see again. Tonight we celebrate a great milestone of our captain Leo Messi becoming the footballer who has lifted the most trophies in the history of this sport. And I am sure he won't stop at 45; we hope he can lift many more in the future.”

Later, the 37-year-old took to his Instagram to thank his club for the most emotional celebration. He wrote in a post, “Thank you so much for the recognition, @intermiamicf! It was a pleasure to share this moment with our people on the court.”
