Saleka Night Shyamalan is taking cues from Taylor Swift’s “boss woman” attitude!
Conversing in an interview with PEOPLE at the world premiere of the much-anticipated film Trap at Alice Tully Hall in New York, the Echo singer revealed how she embraced Taylor Swift’s essence for her feature debut.
“We talked a lot about Taylor Swift on set and how she’s this boss woman and CEO,” told director M. Night Shyamalan’s daughter to the outlet.
The singer-songwriter spoke highly of the Cruel Summer songstress for being a positive influence for others.
She further explained how the Blank Space starlet serves as a role model for women aiming to excel in managing their careers, referring to Taylor Swift being someone who runs her own business.
“She’s not just a singer and an entertainer you see on stage; she’s a boss. So, I think we thought a lot about that,” noted the Trap actress.
The actress also talked about other artists she took inspiration from when filming for the psychological thriller.
Describing herself as an introvert and a shy person, the singer said, “I watched a lot of videos of Rosalía performing on stage, and Billie Eilish and just artists that I love because walking out on stage with confidence is not something that comes naturally to me.”
She added, “So I was trying to channel all of the beautiful pop stars of our generation.”
Warner Bros. Pictures presented upcoming film Trap follows the story of a serial killer, Cooper (Josh Hartnett), known as “The Butcher,” who accompanies his daughter to popstar Lady Raven’s concert, only to realize that it’s a police trap intended to apprehend him.
Trap is slated to hit the cinemas on August 2, 2024.
