King Charles has seemingly tried his level best to make Meghan Markle feel welcomed in the family.
The monarch “tried to reach out to Meghan” after she exchanged wedding vows with Prince Harry in 2018.
A source told the Express about King, who is currently battling cancer, "At first Charles tried to reach out to Meghan and treated her with the same love and affection as he did Catherine. But they are very different characters."
"He welcomed her with open arms and wanted her to feel part of the family. That is why Harry and Meghan's behaviour has cut him to the quick,” the insider further explained.
Before the royal “rift” started among the brothers, his majesty was reportedly much close to Prince William.
Another insider also revealed that Kate Middleton reportedly helped her husband in understanding Charles “better.”
They stated: "The duchess is somebody who always tries to see both sides of any dispute. She has a cool head and is 'emotionally mature'; she can open William's eyes to other points of view like no other."
For the unversed, Kate is currently battling cancer.
