Britney Spears’ memoir, The Woman In Me, had set off shock echoes in Hollywood, and now it’s being turned into an actual film with Universal Productions purchasing the rights.
The singer herself announced this news today, on August 1, teasing the project through her official account on social media X.
She further mentioned of working with produced Marc Platt, who previously made the hit franchise Legally Blonde a huge success with actor Reese Witherspoon.
Since the movie is still in its development phase, there’s no word about who will get to portray Britney Spears yet.
But, according to Daily Mail, Wicked’s director, Jon M. Chu, has been finalized for the biopic.
“Excited to share with my fans that I’ve been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt. He’s always made my favorite movies … stay tuned,” the popstar winked.
Previously, Variety had verified that a picture based on Britney Spears’ book is in the making.
Now that everyone knows that it’s officially happening, this might come out as a big surprise for former romance Justin Timberlake, who was heavily mentioned throughout the memoir.
It’s only now that the ex-boyfriend has picked some fanbase back up with his Forget the World Tour; otherwise, right after The Woman In Me’s release, he had received a lot of hate.
There have been reports of him fearing turning into a flop again following his DWI arrest.
