Britney Spears biopic is officially in development at Universal Pictures, with Jon M. Chu, the acclaimed director of Wicked, set to helm the project.
The Womanizer singer took to her Instagram to announce the "secret project," noting that Platt has "always made my favourite films" and encouraging her followers to "stay tuned" for more information.
She wrote, “Excited to share with my fans that I've been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt.”
“He’s always made my favorite movies … stay tuned,” Spears added.
As per Variety, after a very competitive auction, Universal acquired the rights to Spears’ memoir, The Woman In Me, which was published in October of last year and has already sold over 2.5 million copies in the US alone.
In her book, she detailed her rise to pop superstardom, from her days in the Mickey Mouse Club to her well-followed and widely publicised conservatorship lawsuit.
A press announcement stated that the pop star's 2023 memoir was up for auction, and it was "very competitive."
The biography will be directed by Jon M. Chu, who most recently helmed Wicked, with Marc Platt serving as producer.
As of right now, no cast announcement has been made.
