Sha'Carri Richardson kicked off her Olympic journey with a standout performance in the 100 meters on Friday, winning her first-ever Olympic race with a time of 10.94 seconds.

Her impressive performance secured her a spot in the semifinals, which will be held Saturday night.

Richardson, sporting eye-catching neon green shoes, stood out against the vibrant purple track at Stade de France. She captured the first of eight heats on a bustling opening day of track events.

The field also saw strong performances from other top competitors, including Jamaica's Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, a two-time champion in this event, who ran 10.92 seconds.

Fraser-Pryce finished second to Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith, who led the fastest heat with a time of 10.87 seconds.

Richardson’s American teammates, Melissa Jefferson and Twanisha Terry, also advanced to the next round.

Additionally, Richardson's performance contrasted with her earlier trials, showing a strong start and a powerful finish.
