International Women's Day: Google Doodle honors female in STEM

Google Doodle honoured women working in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields on the 2025 International Women’s Day.

Every year, March 8 is observed as International Women’s Day. The United Nations in 1975 recognised this day to honour females and recognise their important contributions all around the world.

This year Google has changed its doodle to highlight how women have shaped STEM fields through breakthroughs and discoveries.

Google wrote in its blog, “With our Doodle, we honour visionary women in STEM fields. The Doodle artwork spotlights groundbreaking contributions by women who revolutionised space exploration, uncovered ancient discoveries, and pioneered lab research that fundamentally shaped our understanding of physics, chemistry, and biology.”

It noted that these achievements represent only a small portion of women's contributions in the field of science.

“Their work represents the ongoing progress towards gender equality, yet STEM remains one of the areas where significant gaps still persist. Currently, women represent only 29% of the global STEM workforce. But this number grows larger every year,” it added.

The search engine emphasised that every year, Women's Day serves as a reminder that the achievements of women have played an important role in shaping the history of the world, and because of their contribution, people are experiencing wonders of the modern world.
