
King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia's younger daughter Infanta Sofía will not be following her sister Princess Leonor's footsteps.
The Spanish Royal House has confirmed that the 17-year-old is not planning on taking a military path, as such decision is not required by the second-born royal.
As Leonor, being the heir to the throne, is continuing her military education, Sofía's is planning her future revolving around academics.
Although, her education details, including academic preferences, or university, are still under wraps, the Royal House confirmed that, "as of today, the possibility of military training for her is not considered."
However, the Head of State admitted that, "various options are still on the table for next year," hinting at any possible change in the near future.
Currently, Sofía is completing her International Baccalaureate at UWC Atlantic College in Wales, where she began in September 2023, and is expected to finish in summer of 2025.
With exam season just around the corner, Infanta Sofía would be celebrating her milestone birthday on April 29, privately with family.
Meanwhile, Princess Leonor is currently at sea abroad the Juan Sebastián de Elcano on its 97th training voyage as part of her ongoing instruction with the Spanish Navy.
