Musaddiq Malek is clearing the air surrounding his demeaning remarks for the audiences.
Recently, the director of Hania Amir and Bilal Abbas starring Meri Zindagi Hai Tu sparked outrage by making dismissive comments on viewers’ opinions about the content.
In a viral clip from his appearance on Kya Drama Hai, Musaddiq reacted to negative criticism and comments on social media, saying that if the audiences do not like anything they see, they can simply message or dislike it.
He added, “You do not have any value beyond this. You think you are significant because you have a right to comment, but you do not hold any more value than this.”
After the statement sparked backlash, the Main Manto Nahi Hoon director turned to his Instagram account to issue a clarification, defending his remarks.
Sharing a video from the show, he captioned, “So ironic!I feel it’s important to clarify this, because a short clip without full context can easily be misunderstood.”
“This conversation was about online bullying and hate comments, and how constant scrutiny in comment sections can deeply affect anyone’s mental health, sometimes with tragic consequences. It was not about drama audiences, genres, YouTube views, or MZHT,” Musaddiq continued.
The director went on to explain that he was specifically referring to models, actors, and public figures who are relentlessly judged and targeted online - something many people silently struggle with every day.
“Please watch the entire clip to understand the context before forming an opinion. Comment sections in general can be a dangerous space, and this conversation was about awareness, empathy, and responsibility. Words matter. Context matters. And mental health matters,” he concluded.
Besides Meri Zindagi Hai Tu, Musaddiq Malek has also directed Habs, Absolutely Knot, and Main Manto Nahi Hoon.
