Princess Anne has been spotted in public for the first time following the controversy surrounding her son.

The Princess Royal made an appearance at dining on a classic British seaside meal of fish, chips and tartare sauce during a visit to Colmans Seafood Temple in South Shields today.

Anne, 75, received a warm welcome at the renovated bandstand, overlooking the South Tyneside seafront.

The family-run eatery, celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2026, first opened on Ocean Road in 1926.

This outing was Princess Anne’s first public engagement since her son Peter Phillips’ spokesman announced his upcoming marriage to Harriet Sperling this summer.

The initial statement mistakenly listed the wedding date as July 6, which was later corrected.

Peter Phillips, the eldest grandchild of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, is set to tie the knot with the paediatric nurse and freelance writer in a private ceremony at All Saints Church in Cirencester on Saturday, June 6.

The couple, who began their relationship in 2024 and announced their engagement last August, have informed senior royals, including the King and Queen, as well as the Prince and Princess of Wales, of their wedding plans.
