'Drag Race' star Misua dies at 27 in Philippines, show production halted

Drag Race: Philippines star Misua, whose real name was Jason Elvie Ty, has passed away at the age of 27 in her sleep.

It was reported that Misua, who had been cast for the upcoming fourth season of Drag Race: Philippines, died on Thursday, April 2.

Misua's cause of death:

While it was shared that Misua passed away in her sleep, no cause of death has been revealed yet.

World of Wonder, the show's production company, announced the heartbreaking news via an Instagram post, as they shared that the season's production, which was due to begin filming, has been halted to support the cast and crew.

The post praised Misua for bringing "light, artistry, and joy to those around her", adding that "she will be deeply missed" by those who knew her.

"Our thoughts are with her family, friends, and all who loved her. We are in contact with her family who have asked for privacy during this hard time," the statement concluded.

Her family also penned an emotional tribute to Misua, who was an integral part of the Filipino drag community, describing Jayson as a "dearly loved son, brother, friend, mentor and most of all, a star".
