Akshay Kumar and director Priyadarshan Soman have come together for a movie after over a decade has passed since their last collaboration.
Speaking to Bollywood Hungama recently, Priyadarshan said, “It’s been a while since Akshay and I worked together. The last film we did together was Khatta Meetha in 2010. There were several projects we discussed after that, but nothing concrete happened until now.”
He added that their new production will be based on a comic-fantasy genre as audiences have always rejected his serious pictures, like Rangrezz, Bumm Bumm Bole, and Tezz.
“So, comedy it is. I hope to recreate the mirthful magic of Hera Pheri and Bhool Bhulaiya,” the filmmaker remarked.
While all details about the upcoming flick have been strictly kept confidential, it has been reported that Ekta Kapoor has been signed as the producer and that the shoot schedule is expected to begin in September.
Priyadarshan made a notable mark in the Bollwood industry with comedy movies, such as Dhol, Chup Chup Ke, and De Dana Dan. Akshay’s collaborations especially proved cinematically momentous for him.
To date, Salman Khan starrer Kyon Ki remains his only serious Hindi production that is fondly remembered by the audience.
