Alia Bhatt has signed on to crime series Poacher as an executive producer.

On February 6, Variety Magazine announced that the Student of the Year star has boarded the project with director Richie Mehta, who was behind the hit drama Delhi Crime.

Starring Dibyendu Bhattacharya, Nimisha Sajayan, and Roshan Mathew in pivotal roles, the series is a fictional adaptation of the events unfolding in the forests of Delhi and Kerala, as reported in court documents and testimonials.

It is a tribute to forest service workers, NGOs, and police constables, who had put their lives on stake to explore India’s largest ivory poaching ring case.

Alia stated, “Being part of this incredibly significant project is an honor. Richie’s portrayal of the urgent issue of wildlife crime resonated strongly with me and the team.”

“The storytelling genuinely moved me, especially knowing it’s based on true events that shed light on brutal crimes occurring in our forests,” she added.

Poacher will be available worldwide on Amazon Prime, starting February 23.

Workwise, Alia was last seen playing Rani Chatterjee in Karan Johar’s 2023 film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, and is now working on Vasan Bala’s Jigra.
