Abbas-Mustan’s director duo is reportedly working on a sequel for their 2002 romantic thriller, Humraaz.

According to Pinkvilla, they were busy sketching ideas for the last two years with producer Ratan Jain, and have even outlined an interesting plot.

"Their team has discussed 100s of ideas, but never came across anything that acts as a worthy predecessor. Finally, around a month back, they managed to crack something that’s not just bigger but also better than the first part," an insider told the media portal.

It has been informed that makers are now moving toward developing a script around the said story, whereas producers will be looking out for potential actors.

Their foremost aim is to bring the original cast of Bobby Deol, Akshaye Khanna, and Ameesha Patel back, but if the three refuse, then a totally different approach can be made for the upcoming project.

The source said, "It’s yet undecided if it’s a straight sequel or a franchise film, but there is some movement at Ratan Jain’s office with regards to the idea of bringing Bobby and Akshaye back to the film. There will be clarity on the casting soon."

Ameesha however recently stated that she hasn’t been contacted for the sequel yet and nor was notified about its initiation.

Mostly remembered for its soundtrack, Humraaz performed moderately at the box office with mixed ratings from critics.

It will be Abbas-Mustan’s second production ever to be renewed for an instalment after Race.
