Salman Khan’s filmography is mostly known for ripping shirts apart, flinging punches, and throwing extra heroic dialogues.
But there have been numerous times when Chulbul Pandey turned into Prem and won over the title of chocolate boy in the Indian film industry, despite not performing that well.
Here’s a look back at his three underperforming romantics that revealed the real face of love.
1. Kyon Ki (2005)
Kareena Kapoor’s pairing with the Bhai of Bollywood has always given good watches. After Tere Naam, he again tried playing a tormented guy in this film, and even made it seem easy.
Director Priyadarshan chronicled each character by moving comedy, flashbacks, love, and cruelty back and forth in a mental asylum.
2. Saawariya (2007)
This production was bullied all around upon its theatrical debut, ending up as a box office dud because of clashing with Om Shanti Om’s release date.
Salman’s glittering sub-plot with Sonam Kapoor is anyhow truly worth watching, especially for Sanjay Leela Bhansali's painstaking effort on making each shot extraordinary.
He even drew various parallels with older romantic flicks, like Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam and Devdas, making it a sincere ode to affection.
3. Jaan-E-Mann (2006)
Even though it was a commercial failure, Jaan-E-Mann gradually found its audience through the internet.
Akshay Kumar was seen playing a happy-go-lucky simpleton, whereas Salman posed as the former's “love guru,” although it was a slashing job for him as the person they’re trying to woo is his ex-wife, played by Preity Zinta.
The cinematography for this picture was as prolific as its music album... After all, Sonu Nigam’s mighty popular song, Sau Dard, is listed on it.
