Jennifer Lopez has shared how “freaked out” she was upon being recognized by someone for the first time in public.

The star had already made some name with a few songs and appearances in films, but when her 1997 movie Selena came out, people started identifying her on the street with a “new level of fame.”

Speaking to Variety for an interview, JLo recalled, “That was when I kind of became famous. I remember walking down the street and somebody calling my name and thinking it was somebody who knew me. I turned around and didn’t know them.”

The artist added that she was 'incredibly excited and spooked out' at the same time as the fan approached.

“I was like, ‘Oh my God, I’m not anonymous anymore. I can’t just walk down the street. Like, if somebody calls me, it’s not somebody I know, it’s somebody I don’t know,’” she laughed.

As time passed, the On the Floor vocalist started to appreciate these interactions, calling it an “adjustment period.”

She explained, “But then, you know, you kind of get used to it and embrace it and see it for what it is, which is kind of like love.”

After a 10-year-long gap, Jennifer is releasing a new album named This Is Me… Now, and has been again making active appearances in public.
