Cristiano Ronaldo has caught waves for asking fans to shut shouting Messi’s name down with an obscene body movement.
After winning the game for Al Nassr, he was leading teammates as they enthusiastically celebrated on the football ground.
At this point, some admirers seated in the stadium started chanting his field enemy Lionel Messi’s name as a means to troll him.
The athlete lost his cool and reacted by directing a very dirty gesture at them, where he slid a hand around his genital area and pulled it upwards.
Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Saudi Football Federation is currently investigating this exchange, and if Ronaldo’s found guilty, he might as well be banned from participating in the league’s upcoming match scheduled for Thursday.
This will be bad news for enthusiasts since Al Nassr is up for scoring the winning title since last securing a victory in the 2018-19 season.
A ruling is expected in the next 48 hours. It is however to be noted that this isn’t the first time that Ronaldo has enacted such a gesture.
After losing to Al-Hilal last year, he gave the same response to a couple of fans, who were rejoicing by waving Messi shirts.
Both instances left attendees disappointed as they hope footballers stop taking themselves too seriously, which ultimately ruins the game’s spirit.
