Diljit Dosanjh has shared his experience of working under Imtiaz Ali’s “serious” direction for their upcoming movie, Chamkila.
The actor told Film Companion, “Every day he sends a mail detailing bits and pieces about Chamkila’s personality like how he would walk and all. I have never had a schooling like this. He is very serious and very focused.”
Shedding light on the filmmaker’s heavy-duty research, he said, “I thought I knew Chamkila because I am from Punjab and I have heard his music, but personally I think Imtiaz knows him more.”
Noting the director’s sternness, Diljit was questioned whether he remained nervous during their time together.
“I was not nervous. He is very serious but I am not. If I get serious, then the work will get ruined,” the celebrity replied.
Set to release on April 12, Chamkila is based on a late Punjabi singer of the same name.
He gave numerous hits such as Kan Kar Gal Sun Makhna, Pehle Lalkare Naal, and Ki Jor Gariba Da before being mysteriously assassinated in 1988.
Diljit will be seen headlining the movie alongside Parineeti Chopra, who has also sung 15 tracks for the production.
