Kiran Rao has revealed that Aamir Khan’s first wife, Reena Dutta, never left his family after divorce.
Just like the filmmaker herself, Reena remains close-knitted with the household, sharing a special bond with everyone.
In a recent chat with Zoom, Kiran said, “The family was highly protective of Reena, and when I got married, Reena was a part of the family. I absolutely love her. She’s a dear friend.”
“I got very lucky that I literally married a family, and a family that I love, I continue to love,” she added.
Then, the director went on to open up about the admiration she has for Aamir’s mother, Zeenat Hussain, calling her the “apple of my eye.”
Despite the changes in their marital relationship, both she and Reena continue mixing with the superstar’s side. They are often pictured celebrating festivities together, like at Ira Khan’s 2024 wedding.
Kiran even stated that they were all pre-planning for the occasion together.
Workwise, her latest directorial, Laapataa Ladies, is enjoying a good time at the global box office for a small-budget production.
So far, the movie has grossed over 8 crore INR and has received critical acclaim for its well-informed message.
