Saif Ali Khan’s disclosure on discussion between Vishal Bhardwaj, Aamir Khan resurfaces

Saif Ali Khan’s 2020 interview with Film Companion, where he revealed why director Vishal Bhardwaj left Aamir Khan out of their 2006 movie, Omkara, has resurfaced.

The host had asked whether Saif knew that the Taare Zameen Par actor was the original choice for his role of Langda Tyagi.

To this, the actor recalled, “Yes, that is what I heard later. Vishal said, ‘He was asking me a lot of questions and he wanted to alter things.’ ”

Being immensely meticulous with the projects he takes, Aamir is known for full involvement in productions to the point that things usually go his way.

Vishal is however someone who prefers a director’s actor.

When he worked on another one of his Shakespearean trilogy, Haider, Shahid Kapoor had completely submitted to him for transforming into the titular role.

This was also the case with Priyanka Chopra in 7 Khoon Maaf, Imran Khan and Anushka Shamra in Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola, and Radhika Madan in Pataakha.

Going on, Saif said, “Aamir must have just had a discussion, but Vishal apparently said he will call him back and then then called me instead. He wasn’t sure it was going to go the way Aamir wanted. It was not something Vishal was comfortable with following.”
