Prince Harry virtually attended the Diana Awards 25th anniversary event from California via video chat, on Thursday after his brother Prince William left the ceremony.

As reported by PEOPLE magazine, the Duke of Sussex praised the 20 Legacy Award winners, who were gathered at the Science Museum in London.

Addressing to the winners from all around the world, Harry began, “My mum would be incredibly proud of all of the work that you’ve done, I'm incredibly proud and thank you for doing everything that you do."

"I’m sorry I can’t be there. I wish I could be there with you guys," added the duke, who moved to the United States in 2020, with his wife Meghan Markle.

Harry went on to express his gratitude towards the attendees for "protecting" his late mother, Princess Diana’s legacy.

"The future's yours and you're helping to shape that future," said Harry while affirming that he was "seriously impressed" with all of their work.

Prince Harry playfully advised, "Enjoy the rest of your evening if that’s what you plan to do," jokingly adding, "Don’t get in too much trouble if you’re continuing to go on."

Concluding his speech with gratitude, he noted, "And thank you very much for inspiring so many others and at the same time protecting my mother’s legacy. I really appreciate that."

For the unversed, The Diana Award was set up two years after Diana’s passing in Paris, after a car accident in 1997.
