Aamir Khan has confirmed that the next instalment for his 1994 romcom, Andaz Apna Apna, has officially been approved and is currently undergoing its initial development phase.

In honor of his 59th birthday on March 14, the actor had hosted a live Instagram session, where he revealed, “I have just learnt that Rajkumar Santoshi is working on the script of Andaz Apna Apna. This news is completely fresh.”

“He has just started so we can’t show too much excitement. I’m glad he’s thinking about it because I think it will be a great film for all of us to do and for the audiences to watch,” Aamir added.

While nothing has been said about the cast yet, it seems from his words that he will be surprisingly starring alongside Salman Khan once again.

The original production featured these two stars with Raveena Tandon and Karisma Kapoor.

Shakti Kapoor was seen portraying Crime Master Gogo. And Paresh Rawal was hired on-board for a double role, playing brothers Ram Gopal Bajaj and Shyam Gopal Bajaj (Teja).

Given that it was a pure slapstick comedy, the production only performed moderately at the box office, but as time passed, it achieved a cult status.

Dialogues such as “Khaandaani chor hoon main,” “Gogo ji, aap ka ghagra,” and especially “Ghalati se mistake ho gaya,” remain commonly used by fans.
