Imran Khan recently leased Karan Johar’s Mumbai-based apartment with girlfriend Lekha Washington.
There are many other actors who have also been taking flats on rent, namely Madhuri Dixit, Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Aditi Rao Hydari, Kriti Sanon, and Kartik Aaryan.
Then, there are instances when stars have invested in properties just to rent them out. Examples for these are Amitabh Bachchan, Kajol, Shahid Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, and Tiger Shroff.
According to Zapkey’s cofounder, Sandeep Reddy, some celebrities who can afford houses may still prefer living on rent because of a few particular choices, such as living near a shoot location or not finding a fitting place.
“So the next best option is to rent. Yet another reason is unstable income because of which they may not want to commit to a large outgo on purchase,” he pointed.
Ritesh Mehta, senior director at JLL, told Hindustan Times that Bollywood personalities prefer a premium sea-facing view that may not be up for sale within their desired location.
He explained, “They first prefer to take the flat on lease, but keep scouting. Once they find the apartment of their choice, they eventually buy it. Newcomers first take a house on rent as they may not be able to afford and their earnings are not regular.”
Property brokers have the very same thing to say. Unless coming from a loaded family, freshers don’t risk committing to regular EMIs.
