Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly granted new names to their children, Prince Archie Mountbatten-Windsor and Princess Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor.
An insider informed The Times that royal titles have been removed from the kids’ names.
Surnames assumed by males and females from Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip’s descendants have also been axed off.
The little boy and girl will now be known as only Archie Sussex and Lilibet Sussex respectively.
This means that Harry and Meghan are further stepping away from their family’s traditions, which has been embraced by many heirs in the past.
After their exit as senior royals from the British Royal Family in 2020, the couple has been redefining their identities over the years.
They were seemingly not happy with excessive media intrusion into their private lives and were further frustrated when the Buckingham Palace stopped them from continuing Sussex Royal, which has recently been renamed to Sussex after omission of royal heritage from the brand as well.
Another reason was Harry’s anger with Prince William punching him for choosing to marry Meghan.
While the Duke of Sussex has called it quits, he still remains a prince and is fifth in line to be handed the throne’s crown.
