Ranveer Singh has filed a complaint over a widely-circulated deepfake video that showed him endorsing a political party.

Ranveer had recently visited Varanasi along with Kriti Sanon and Manish Malhotra for a fashion show where he gave an interview to news agency ANI.

Later, it was revealed that the interview clip had been misused, and the audio purportedly featuring Ranveer Singh's voice was actually generated using an AI-enabled tool.

In the deepfake, Ranveer was seen criticizing Prime Minister Narendra Modi over unemployment and inflation.

The altered video later concluded with a message urging people to vote for Congress.

In a recent development regarding the generation and circulation of the Deepfake video, the official spokesperson of Ranveer confirmed filing FIR against account promoting fake video.

In an official statement, the spokesperson noted, “Yes, we have filed the police complaint and a FIR has been lodged against the handle that was promoting the AI-generated Deepfake video of Mr. Ranveer Singh.”

Ranveer himself turned to his social media account on Monday April 22 reacting to his fake video promoting a political party.

On his Instagram Story, he wrote in capital letters, "Deepfake se bacho dostonnnn (skull emoji).”

Previously, a deepfake video of the actor Aamir Khan in which he was seen promoting a political party, had gone viral on social media.
