Ariana Grande bares raw emotion while sharing extra ‘We Can’t Be Friends’ BTS

Ariana Grande got intimate about what made her new song special

Ariana Grande has let loose some more behind-the-scenes shots from her popular 2024 song, We Can’t Be Friends, which is seemingly based on her late boyfriend, Mac Miller.

In the footage, she and album producer Max Martin were in the studio, discussing the already recorded parts in-depth and commenting on what needed to be done again for clarity.

The singer repeatedly expressed love for those segments where she had stretched the ending of her lines while singing to hit a higher note.

She was also observed performing some of the lyrics again, then showing excitement by exclaiming “Yay!” on being given a thumbs up by her professional partner.

For the caption of this post, Ariana Grande poured her exact emotions out by writing, “Couldn’t wait to share with you… the first clip is Max Martin and me piecing together the first two melody passes.”

“Followed by the first voice note I texted to Ilya Salmanzadeh (recorded in my kitchen first thing in the morning) (how insanely lucky i am to get to work with him and Martin and to call them my friends),” she added.

As it shows, We Can’t Be Friends seems very close to her heart because not only close attention was paid while shooting for its video and audio, she still keeps fondly remembering it even over one month after the release date.

Reflecting the same, Ariana Grande expressed, “This song holds such a special place in my heart and I can’t thank you enough for all of the love you’ve shown (and continue to show) it.”
