Rohit Sharma is most likely to retire after the World Cup 2024

Rohit Sharma could be playing his final T20 World Cup in 2024, as the reports claimed that the Indian skipper is most likely to retire after the upcoming June World Cup.

According to Hindustan Times, an Indian newspaper, Dainik Jagran, in a report, claimed that Rohit could bid farewell to the shortest format of cricket after the World Cup.

The newspaper also claimed that the captain’s retirement decision is directly linked with the selection of Hardik Pandya’s selection in the T20 World Cup squad.

The report stated that Hardik was selected in the squad because the BCCI is looking at the all-rounder as a future captain of the team.

Moreover, it is also rumoured that things between Rohit and Hardik are not going smoothly at Mumbai Indians (MI) in the IPL since Rohit was removed from the captaincy of the team and the all-rounder was given the lead.

The report also mentioned that although overseas players did not have any issues with the MI captain, however, the domestic players looked up to Rohit as their leader.

Additionally, former Australian player Michael Clark earlier also noted that the Mumbai Indians seem to be divided into two camps.
