'Deadpool & Wolverine' smashes first day ticket sale records: Details

Deadpool & Wolverine, the upcoming film of Rayn Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, shattered records on its first day of opening at the box office, achieving the highest ticket sale ever for an R-rated movie.

As per the reports of The Hollywood Reporter, the AMC Theatre chief Adam Aron shared that the much-anticipated movie had an impressive start, setting a new record for first-day advance ticket sales at the largest movie circuits in the country.

Tickets went on sale Monday for the Marvel Studios sequel, which officially opens in North America on July 26 following previews on the evening of July 25.

“Some 200,000 movie fans have bought their AMC tickets already. This is more Day 1 ticket sales at AMC than for any other R-rated movie ever,” the colorful CEO wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter.

The online ticket service, Fandango and AMC, did not provide dollar figures.

However, insiders told The Hollywood Reporter that first-day sales are probably around $8 million to $9 million if we conclude the 200,000 statistics mentioned by Aron.

To note, in 2016, Deadpool and in 2018, Deadpool 2 achieved the highest R-rated opening weekends, earning $132.4 million and $125 million, respectively.

Deadpool & Wolverine will be the first R-rated movie ever released by Marvel and Disney.
