Princess Beatrice and husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi have taken up residence in the Cotswolds with their three shared children, but did you know that Prince Andrew’s daughter also enjoys a place at the historic St James’s Palace?

Beatrice, the eldest child of Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson, has a grace and favour home at the iconic London Palace; a grace and favour home is essentially a royal property owned by the monarch and leased out as a favour to a family member.

St James’s Palace history

St James’s Palace holds special significance for the royals, with a rich 500-year-old history etched in its walls. The Palace not only served as a home for King Henry VIII, but was also where King Charles III was proclaimed King, and the venue for Queen Victoria’s wedding!

It has since been leased out to several royal family members; alongside Princess Beatrice, Princess Anne and Princess Alexandra also enjoy grace and favour homes on the property.

Princess Beatrice’s residence at St James’s Palace

Princess Beatrice lived at her four-bedroom apartment on the Palace grounds with her husband until the couple shelled out £3.5 million in 2021 for a manor home in the Cotswolds.

Before the move, however, Beatrice had lived on the Palace grounds for the majority of her young years; she shared the same apartment with her sister, Princess Eugenie, while studying History at Goldsmiths University.

While the sisters lived rent-free for a while, they started paying for the residence starting 2012; their father Prince Andrew reportedly paid £20,000 per annum for his daughters’ apartment, as per Express UK.

Being non-working members of the royal family, Beatrice and her husband Edoardo moved out of the Palace grounds into a private residence in 2021; the princess retains her royal home, however.

The couple’s rural residence in the Cotswolds is far from being removed from her royal lineage; the sprawling estate reportedly has six bedrooms with a private pool and on-site tennis courts, reported Hello Magazine.

That’s not all. Beatrice and Edoardo, who owns a property and interior company, have reportedly converted an outbuilding into a stunning guest house as well to host their many high-profile friends and acquaintances.
