Bayern forward Luis Diaz lit up with emotion when handed a custom PS5 controller honouring his late Liverpool teammate, Diogo Jota.
The controller, in red was engraved with “Diogo J” on the back, honouring their close friendship.
Diaz and Jota built a strong bond while playing together at Liverpool, appearing in 73 games side by side.
Not only that, both players also grew close personally off the pitch, sharing hobbies like video games.
During his Bayern Munich debut in the Franz Beckenbauer Supercup, Diaz honoured his late friend Jota by imitating Jota’s famous video-game celebration after scoring Bayern’s second goal against VfB Stuttgart.
Diogo and his brother died last month when their car went off the road and caught fire on the A-52 motorway in Cernadilla, a town in the Zamora province of Spain.
As per the reports, Diogo was travelling back to Liverpool as doctors had adviced him not to fly for about six weeks after he had lung surgery to fix a broken rib.
For the unversed, Diogo married to his longtime partner, Rute on June 22, 2025 after being together for nine years and getting engaged in 2022.
They shared three children, two sons and a daughter.
