Jimmy Kimmel in talks with Disney on compromise to revive late-night show

Jimmy Kimmel is reportedly discussing the return of 'Jimmy Kimmel Live!' after pull from air

Jimmy Kimmel is reportedly in talks to extend his run as host of Jimmy Kimmel Live! following the show’s recent removal from the air.

As per Variety, multiple sources revealed that the 57-year-old host and Disney, which is the parent company for ABC, are negotiating to “work toward reaching a compromise.”

Sources told the outlet that Kimmel’s camp is exploring options with executives to restore Jimmy Kimmel Live! after it was pulled.

However, Kimmel and Disney both have not publicly addressed whether Jimmy Kimmel Live! will make a comeback.

Notably, the report came after it was confirmed on Wednesday, September 17, that Kimmel’s show had been removed from ABC’s TV lineup.

“Jimmy Kimmel Live! will be preempted indefinitely,” a spokesperson for ABC said.

According to reports, Jimmy Kimmel Live! was suspended after Nexstar Media objected to Kimmel’s comments about Charlie Kirk’s killing, with the broadcaster threatening to swap in alternate shows.

Earlier in September, 31-year-old Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk was shot and killed.

On his September 15 show, Kimmel blasted conservatives for pushing claims that suspect Tyler Robinson had far-left affiliations, calling the effort a “new low.”

“The MAGA Gang [is] desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it,” Kimmel said.

He added, “In between the finger-pointing, there was grieving.”

To note, his remarks ignited public outrage and as Brandon Carr, the chairman of the Federal Communications Commission also stepped forward to slam Kimmel over these remarks.
