Vivek Oberoi was once a promising hunk for Bollywood until his career was suddenly derailed thanks to explosive controversies and.

As the star recently made a comeback with Rohit Shetty's Indian Police Force, we’re recounting three of his biggest box office duds, which played a part in his disappearance from the big screen.

1. Prince (2010)

This movie made 19 crores INR on a budget of 37 crores INR, that too owing to its high energy soundtrack that served as a giant promotional factor.

Especially Atif Aslam’s Tere Liye and Aa Bhi Jaa Sanam created quite a buzz in the media, but they were all badly placed within the film.

Vivek played a thief named Prince, who dresses up like Shah Rukh Khan's nemesis and is in search of a mysterious coin that’s chased by everyone else.

The VFX used in his stunt scenes however was the only aspect that got a thumbs up from critics.

2. Mission Istaanbul (2008)

Described as akin to “painful wisdom teeth extraction,” Mission Istaanbul managed to garner just 9 crores INR in comparison to a production cost of 21 crores INR.

The production featured Zayed Khan as Vikas Sagar, who teaches 'serious journalism'. And, then, there’s Vivek playing a long-haired Rizwan Khan.

Every time the camera zooms over him, a part of his smug smile asks, “How good does my hair look?” — this was the most hated part of this movie after Abhishek Bachchan’s dancing cameo in an item number for the track Nobody Like You.

As per reports from that time, even Shamita Shetty and Esha Deol had refused to be a part of this disaster.

3. Kismet Love Paisa Dilli (2012)

Despite makers burning 16 crores INR for this comic thriller script, the film could only bring in 4 crores INR.

Many people complained that the film was sorely predictable as it revolved on a plot where the hero vows never to join the corrupt, but seemingly ends up doing so.

And, in the process, he falls in love with Mallika Sherawat overnight.
