Preity Zinta has shared the time when director Mani Ratnam startled her on the sets of their 1998 movie Dil Se.
As part of her ‘Throwback Thursdays’ for Instagram, on February 8, she posted a close-up frame of hers from the film and recalled an unforgettable moment.
As per Preity, Mani was preparing for this particular shot when he looked at the actor with a smile, then respectfully asked her to go and wash her face.
Preity responded with a shock to this, saying that her makeup will come off, and the filmmaker once again surprised her by stating that it’s exactly what he wanted.
“I thought he was joking… then I realised he was not! So thanks to the amazing Santosh Shivam (photography director), I filmed with a freshly washed face and got away with it,” she joked, adding, “I guess he shot me dil se.”
Dil Se featured Shah Rukh Khan as a reporter for All India Radio and Manisha Koirala as a mysterious terrorist alongside Preity in an extended cameo.
The production performed moderately at the box office, but its soundtrack by A. R. Rahman remains a memorable hit to date.
