Bradley Cooper walked down the memory lane to meeting Beyoncé in 2018 to discuss his film A Star Is Born.
During his recent interview with the SAG-AFTRA Foundation, Bradley Cooper, who starred in A Star Is Born and also served as the director on the musical film, shared rare insights into his meeting with the CUFF IT singer and her husband JAY-Z.
"I went to Beyoncé's house, and Jay-Z was watching Judge Judy, I still remember. I'm not kidding. And I was freaking [out]. I remember I had this weird cough when I was pitching it to her," said Cooper, while reflecting on pitching the idea to Beyoncé, who was his first choice for the role of an inspiring singer Ally, which Lady Gaga ended up playing.
Bradley Cooper spilled that he presented the idea of casting Beyoncé in coveted role to studio executive Greg Silverman, who tasked him to get the Crazy In Love songstress on board in “under $25 million.”
"It was crazy. She was incredible and so was he, and we developed it for like a year together. I mean, she's one of the greatest people of all time. Then that fell through," added Cooper.
However, after hearing the Poker Face singer at a concert, the 37-year-old actor realized she was the right fit for the role of Ally, in A Star Is Born.
“It just blew the doors off of the whole place, and it was in that moment where it was like, 'That's it. What was I even thinking?' And then I asked to meet her," explained Cooper.
A Star Is Born, in which Bradley Cooper played the role of a country singer Jackson “Jack” Maine, was nominated in eight categories at the 91st Academy Awards, and bagged one Best Original Song award for Shallow.
