Carlos Alcaraz preserved his ‘Indian Wells’ title by defeating Daniil Medvedev. 

World number two tennis player, Alcaraz beat world number four Medevdev with 7-6 (7-5) 6-1in an exciting match on Sunday, March 17, 2024.

This victory marks Alcaraz's first title since July, 2023 Wimbledon. 

As reported by BBC, the Spanish player, Alcaraz, 20, returned from an ankle injury that pushed him to back off from the ‘Rio Open’ first match last month.

During his conversation with Sky News, Alcaraz said, “I love playing here – it is so special for me.”

“This year is a bit more special because before the tournament I was thinking about whether I was going to play my best or not. I wasn’t feeling my best with my ankle injury ... .I am really happy to overcome the problems. We did really good work off the court to recover as best I can,” he added.

Carlos Alcaraz is the first player to win the ‘Indian Wells’ title again after Novak Djokovic who won titles straight from 2014 to 2016. It is his career’s 13th title.
