Celebrity playlist this week
Instep looks into the playlists of celebrities to find out what music they are currently hooked onto. From blues to Bollywood, it's a crazy music mix!

Haniya Aslam

Musician (Zeb and Haniya)
"I have been listening to a lot of random stuff but there is one song I am hooked to these days. It's by Harry Manx and the song is 'The Thrill is Gone'. It's an amazing tune and not many people have actually heard it. 'The Thrill is Gone' is in raag Madhuvanti and is done very well. Ali Hamza from Noori recommended it to me and I am glad he did that."

'The Thrill is Gone' was recorded by B.B. King in 1970 and became the first hit of his career. Canadian singer Harry Manx covered the song and added an Eastern touch to it.

Ali Noor

Musician (Noori)
"I listen to a lot of music. These days, I'm listening to Day and Age by The Killers and I'm also listening to the new album by Kaavish. I'm enjoying that thoroughly. I like listening to music all the time!"

Kaavish's upcoming album, being produced by Faisal Rafi, is one of the most highly awaited albums of the year. The fact that Ali Noor's enjoying it is definitely an endorsement for the young musical act!
The Killers' Day and Age album has quite a lot of fans in Pakistan, and record stores have been reporting it as a clear favourite here.

Zainab Qayyum

Actor / Host
"Ah!! That's a tough one. I have been listening to everything from Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi to Dostana these days. But there are two songs I am completely addicted to and those are not from any of the above mentioned movies. One is 'Tere Ishq Mein' by Rekha Bharadwaj and the other one is 'Foolish Games' by Jewel. I put either of these two songs on repeat so they constantly keep playing in my car or my music system."

'Tere Ishq Mein' featured in a Pakistani drama serial and was written by Gulzar. 'Foolish Games' is from Jewel's debut album Pieces of You.

Gumby Musician

"I'm listening to music by Steely Dan, Pat Metheny, Keziah Jones and Paul Desmond. These guys have been some of my favourite artists. I'm listening to Pat Metheny's album The Road to You. It's a live album that features some of my favourite musicians, including Lyle Mays and Paul Wertico. And I really like Keziah Jones,I think he is one of the best punk artists after James Brown."

Gumby's pick of music is a mix of jazz and rock that reflect the kind of music he has been heard playing recently, particularly with the Kolachi Quartet.

Aamina Sheikh Model

"'Because of You' by Ne-Yo is one song I am completely addicted to. It's my only source of unwinding these days when I get back home from a hard day of work, 'Because of You' makes me relax!"

'Because of You' is the first single off the second album of singer and songwriter Ne-Yo. The song also features in the movie Are We Done Yet? and on the video game Grand Theft Auto IV. Where the song made it to the Top 5 at the Billboard Hot 100 within the first week of its release, 'Because of You' is the hottest choice for model Aamina Sheikh these days.

Tapu Javeri

Photographer / Radio Jockey
"I'm listening to Gare du Nord's 'You're My Medicine'. It's a French band that has sampled Marvin Gaye with Miles Davis on saxophone. They've redone Marvin Gaye's 'Sexual Healing' with a female vocalist. Their album's called Sex and Jazz. The other song is by an African band called Les Go, which has done an amazing cover of Hall and Oates' 'I Can't Go For That' in Swahili."

Tapu's taste in world music is truly diverse - after all, the shutterbug does double as a radio jockey as well!
